Children are taught using a methodology shaped from Singapore to be true problem-solving mathematicians.

They are able to appreciate the beauty of mathematics in a way that encourages an enjoyment of the subject. From an early age and throughout their school life, we introduce concepts using concrete-pictorial-abstract approach.

At Oakwood, it is not enough that a child follows the method that gives a correct answer; they need to understand why the method works and whether it was the optimal choice. Children are expected to be able to explain their work and be competent enough to teach a learnt concept to another child.

In Years 5 and 6 we teach to an 11+ curriculum to ensure children excel during their secondary entrance examinations.
