At Oakwood, Art is the perfect platform for children to express themselves freely and to grow. This is conducive to developing strong personalities and a passion for creative arts.



Art is taught by a specialist teacher from Reception to 6, The scheme of work has been stretched and adapted to the children's needs and extended beyond the National Curriculum, contributing to the outstanding level achieved during the past few years. Children’s progress is observed by their individual sketchbooks which they keep over the years. Art lessons are enjoyed weekly and children have the opportunity to attend an extracurricular Art club. Individual children are awarded a weekly and monthly recognition of their efforts in Art. Badges and display boards are dedicated to these children and their efforts in art.
